ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 LMS Awareness

Introduction

ISO/IEC 17025 is a globally recognized standard specifically developed for testing and calibration laboratories seeking accreditation. It serves as the foundation for accreditation-by-accreditation bodies. ISO/IEC 17025 covers testing and calibration activities performed using standard methods, non-standard methods, and laboratory-developed methods.

Laboratories that demonstrate compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 during assessment showcase their adherence to management practices and their technical competence in conducting specific tests, calibrations, and measurements. Additionally, these laboratories can produce technically valid results for which they hold accreditation.

The internationally recognized testing and calibration data from accredited laboratories plays a crucial role in securing acceptance of test results by implementing countries. Therefore, it is of utmost importance for exporters to consider this aspect seriously. Suppliers, especially those involved in export-oriented activities, aim to demonstrate that their products have been tested and/or calibrated by accredited laboratories that conform to recognized standards.
